Easy enough to work out using the bet72 online calculator. Let’s assume we find a selection to back at 4/1 (5.0) and lay at 5.0 on Betfair, just enter the figures in the calculator as below.
The idea is to treat the 1st bet as a stake not returned offer, as that way if you win the first bet you are all done and have ensured virtually the same profit as if the bet had lost.
If the bet wins at SPORTINGBET then you would make get £200 back but lose £161.62 at Betfair for a £38.38 profit. If the bet loses at SPORTINGBET you will lose you £50 stake but win £38.38 at Betfair after commission leaving you £11.62 down but your initial £50 stake is refunded so in effect still a £38.38 profit. This £50 needs to be wager 1x at 2.0 or above (on any event) but even if you lose a couple of quid doing it you are still over £36 up!
